The Pelham Fire Department operates 2 engines, 1 tanker, 2 ambulances, 3 brush units, a heavy rescue and 2 command cars from a centrally located station. The department now has full time coverage. Shifts consists of 24 hours on duty, then 72 hours off. There are 4 shifts which consist of 4 firefighters. Each shift also has a paramedic, a paramedic can use more advanced life saving techniques then that of the EMT Basic or which can mean the difference between life and death. Our on call department is still very strong and very much needed.
If there is more than one emergency happening at once the call department is vital to ensure the safety of the citizens of the town of Pelham. The call department as well has 1 Paramedic, 2 EMT-Intermediates and 10 EMT-Basics. All of the other personnel have received some formal training in First Aid, and are available to help out on ambulance calls. The ambulance service is an emergency-only service and will transport to Lowell General and Saints Memorial in Lowell, Southern NH Regional Medical Center and Saint Joseph's in Nashua, Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Lawrence General and Parkland Medical Center in Derry.
